Perform this procedure at your own risk.
Incorrectly manipulating an SD card can cause it to malfunction and could result in card failure. Card failure would require a new SD card as well as initial setup procedures. We would recommend that you perform this procedure using BrightAuthor Connected.
First, please make sure you have a WiFi-enabled device since only some BrightSign devices have this capability; this type of device usually will have an antenna.
All provisioned BrightSigns should have an autorun.brs (see below) saved to the root of the SD card. This file contains essential settings, including the WIFI configuration.
To update the file with your current WiFi settings, follow the instructions below carefully. Creating a backup copy of the original file is strongly recommended.
Here is a step-by-step guide for updating your WiFi settings:
1. Turn off the BrightSign
2. Remove the SD card (press the SD card in for it to pop out)
3. Insert the SD card into your computer’s SD card reader and wait for it to load
4. Find the autorun.brs file and open it in a text editor such as vs-code, notepad, etc.
5. ONLY update the files relevant to the WIFI settings described in the next step
6. Update with your specific settings: essid = “Your SSID” and pass = “your password”
7. Save the file and properly eject(in the UI) the SD card to avoid any damage to it
8. Remove the SD card from the reader and insert it back into the BrightSign; ensure the SD card is properly inserted.
9. Power on the BrightSign device
