Setting Up a New Android Device

Prepare the Device

  • Make sure your Android device (media player, smart TV, or tablet) is powered on and connected to the internet (Wi-Fi or wired)

  • Fully charge it if it's a tablet

  • Connect a keyboard and mouse if setup is easier that way

Install the Menuboard Manager App

  • Go to the Google Play Store on the device

  • Search for Menuboard Manager Player App

  • Download and install it

Launch and Get the Pairing Code

Compatibility & Reinstallation

Device Compatibility

Menuboard Manager is designed to run on a wide range of Android-based media players and smart displays, but not all Android devices are fully supported. Some low-cost or non-commercial Android devices may experience:

  • App freezing or crashing

  • Unreliable network connectivity

  • Incompatibility with auto-start or kiosk mode features

For best results, use commercial-grade Android media players. Your device must be running Android v8.0 or later.

Uninstall & Reinstall

If you're experiencing issues on a compatible device, a clean reinstall may resolve the problem.

Uninstall:

  1. Go to Settings → Apps (or Apps & Notifications)

  2. Find and select Menuboard Manager

  3. Tap Uninstall and confirm

Reinstall:

  1. Open the Google Play Store

  2. Search for Menuboard Manager

  3. Tap Install and wait for it to complete

Reboot:

  1. Press and hold the Power button

  2. Tap Restart (or power off, wait 10 seconds, then power back on)

  3. Allow the device to fully boot before opening Menuboard Manager

After reinstalling, open the app, log in, and assign the correct screen or playlist as directed.

If issues persist, contact our support team with your device make/model and a description of the issue.
