Units Manager

The Units Manager gives you a real-time view of all your displays and the tools to manage them remotely. In Menuboard Manager, a "unit" refers to the physical media player (such as an Android device, smart TV, or Chrome player) connected to your screen.

Status Monitoring

At a glance you can check the health of any unit:

  • Connection Status — a green icon indicates the unit is online and communicating.

  • Last Connection — shows when the unit last checked in with the server.

  • System Health — monitor internal storage usage and CPU temperature (where supported).

Hardware & Software Details

  • Platform — identifies whether the device is running Android, WebOS, or Windows.

  • Network — displays the IP address, MAC address, and connection type (WiFi or wired Ethernet).

  • App Version — shows the version of Menuboard Manager software currently running on the player.

Content Assignment

Within a unit's settings you can:

  • Sign Assignment — choose which presentation should play on this screen.

  • Scheduling — set timers for screen on/off, or rotate content based on time of day (dayparting). See Scheduling & Rotating Presentations for more.

Remote Management

The Remote Management sidebar lets you troubleshoot and control screens without being on-site:

  • Take Screenshot — see exactly what is playing on the screen right now.

  • Update Content — force the unit to check for and download new content immediately.

  • Reboot Unit — remotely restart the media player to clear cache or resolve performance issues.

  • Reload App — refresh the software layer without a full system reboot.

  • Clear Cache/Media — purge old files to free up storage and ensure only current assets are on the device.

Auto-Refresh

You can force a unit to automatically refresh its content on a timed interval. This is useful for time-sensitive data such as a weather widget.

  1. Go to the Units Manager.

  2. Double-click a unit to open it.

  3. Go to the Settings tab.

  4. Under Auto Refresh, toggle the Status switch to ON to enable automatic content refresh.

  5. Set the Time at which the unit should automatically reload its content each day.

  6. Click Update Refresh Time to save.

Tips

  • Use Tags — tag units by city, region, or store type to filter your list and perform bulk updates.

  • Check Screenshots Regularly — the Latest Screenshot section confirms your branding and pricing are displaying correctly on screen.
