Setting Up a Samsung Display with Zero Touch Configuration

Zero Touch Configuration is the fastest way to get a Samsung commercial display running Menuboard Manager. Once your display is connected to the internet, it configures itself automatically — no manual menu navigation required.

This process works for:
- New displays being set up for the first time
- Existing displays that need to be re-provisioned after a factory reset

Before you begin: Contact Menuboard Manager support to confirm your display serial number has been pre-registered. Zero Touch Configuration will not work if the serial number has not been set up on our end in advance.

New Display Setup

  1. Mount the display and connect power.

  2. Turn on the display. The Samsung setup wizard will appear.

  3. Select your language.

  4. Connect to your Wi-Fi network (or plug in an Ethernet cable).

  5. Use a stable, always-on network. Avoid guest networks that require a browser login.

  6. When the provisioning method screen appears, select Zero Touch Configuration.

  7. The display will contact Samsung's servers, download its configuration, and install the Menuboard Manager app automatically. This may take a few minutes.

  8. Once complete, the display will show a Menuboard Manager registration screen with an activation code.

  9. Email the activation code to [email protected] or start a chat at menuboardmanager.com to activate your display.

If you have multiple displays, note which activation code belongs to which screen (for example: far left, middle, far right in a multi-display array) and include that in your message to support.

Re-Provisioning an Existing Display

If your display was previously set up and needs to start fresh — for example after being moved to a new location or following a technical issue — you will need to factory reset it first.

Step 1: Factory Reset the Display

Warning: A factory reset wipes all settings on the display. This cannot be undone.

Using the Samsung remote, enter the service menu by pressing the following buttons in sequence:

Mute → 1 → 8 → 2 → Power

On newer Samsung remotes where the Mute button has been removed, press the speaker-with-line icon instead.

Once in the service menu:

  1. Navigate to Option > Factory Reset.

  2. Confirm the reset.

  3. The display will reboot into the setup wizard.

Step 2: Run Zero Touch Configuration

After the factory reset, follow the New Display Setup steps above from Step 3 onwards.

Your display will automatically re-apply its Menuboard Manager configuration — no changes are needed on Menuboard Manager's end.

Troubleshooting

Zero Touch Configuration is not listed as an option

The setup wizard may not show Zero Touch Configuration if:
- The display firmware is out of date. Check Settings > Support > Software Update before beginning setup.
- The display is an older model that does not support Zero Touch Configuration. Contact support for alternative setup instructions.

The display configures itself but shows the wrong content or a blank screen

Contact Menuboard Manager support — your display may need to be activated or assigned to the correct location.

The display shows "Zero Touch Configuration failed"

  • Confirm your Wi-Fi password is correct and the network has active internet access.

  • Make sure the network does not block outbound HTTPS (port 443).

  • Try connecting to a different network or a mobile hotspot temporarily to complete the setup.
