Connecting or Reconnecting a Display to Wi-Fi

This article covers how to connect or reconnect every supported device type to a Wi-Fi network. Use the section that matches your hardware.

Tip: If your display was working before and recently lost its connection, the most common causes are a changed Wi-Fi password, a router replacement, or a network name (SSID) change. Find your device below and follow the steps to re-enter your credentials.

Samsung QM and QB Series (TIZEN)

Samsung commercial QM and QB Series displays use the TIZEN operating system. Wi-Fi settings are found in the display's system menu.

Connecting or Reconnecting to Wi-Fi

  1. Press Menu on the Samsung remote.

  2. Navigate to Network and press Enter.

  3. Select Network Settings (or Open Network Settings) and press Enter.

  4. Select Wireless as the network type.

  5. The display will scan for available networks. Select your Wi-Fi network (SSID) from the list.

  6. Enter your Wi-Fi password using the on-screen keyboard and select Done.

  7. The display will test the connection. When the test completes successfully, select OK.

If the Network Is Not Found

  • Make sure the router is broadcasting at 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. Some Samsung commercial displays only support 2.4 GHz — check your model's spec sheet if the 5 GHz band does not appear.

  • Move the router or a Wi-Fi access point closer to the display if the signal is weak.

  • Select Refresh on the network list to scan again.

Forgetting a Saved Network (for Password Changes)

  1. Press MenuNetworkNetwork Settings.

  2. Select Manage Saved Networks (or Manage Network).

  3. Select the saved network and choose Delete (or Forget).

  4. Reconnect following the steps above.

Samsung OH Series (TIZEN — Outdoor)

Samsung OH-series outdoor displays use the same TIZEN menu as the QM/QB series. However, OH-series displays are primarily designed for wired Ethernet connections and Wi-Fi is not available on all models. Check your model's specification sheet to confirm Wi-Fi support before proceeding.

Connecting or Reconnecting to Wi-Fi

  1. Press Menu on the Samsung remote.

  2. Navigate to NetworkNetwork Settings and press Enter.

  3. Select Wireless.

  4. Select your network from the list, enter the password, and select Done.

  5. Run a Network Test to confirm connectivity.

If your OH-series display does not have a Wi-Fi adapter, only the Wired option will appear in Network Settings. In that case, use a PoE injector or a wired Ethernet run to the weatherproof data panel on the back of the display.

LG webOS Commercial Displays (LGE-49UH5N and Similar)

LG commercial displays (UH, UHD, and similar webOS models) manage network settings through the EZ Settings menu or the main Settings panel.

Connecting or Reconnecting to Wi-Fi

  1. Press the Settings (gear) button on the LG remote to open EZ Settings, or press Home and navigate to Settings.

  2. Go to NetworkWi-Fi Connection.

  3. If Wi-Fi is disabled, enable it.

  4. The display will scan for available networks. Select your Wi-Fi network (SSID) from the list.

  5. Enter your password using the on-screen keyboard and select Connect.

  6. Once connected, the network name will appear with a checkmark.

Forgetting a Saved Network (for Password Changes)

  1. Press SettingsNetworkWi-Fi Connection.

  2. Navigate to the currently connected or saved network.

  3. Press Advanced Wi-Fi SettingsDelete Saved AP (or Forget Network).

  4. Reconnect following the steps above.

If the Network List Is Empty

  • Toggle Wi-Fi off and back on to force a fresh scan.

  • Confirm the router is powered on and broadcasting.

  • Restart the display and return to Network settings.

Amazon Signage Stick

The Amazon Signage Stick runs a managed version of Fire OS. Wi-Fi is configured during initial setup, but you can change it from Settings at any time.

Connecting or Reconnecting to Wi-Fi

  1. From the home screen, press the Home button on the remote, then navigate to Settings.

  2. Select NetworkWi-Fi.

  3. The stick will scan for networks. Select your Wi-Fi network (SSID) from the list.

  4. Enter your password and select Connect.

If You Changed Your Wi-Fi Password

  1. Go to SettingsNetworkWi-Fi.

  2. Select your current network.

  3. Choose Forget Network (or navigate to it and select Disconnect).

  4. Select the network again from the list, enter the new password, and connect.

After reconnecting, the Signage Stick may take up to 60 seconds to re-establish its connection to the Amazon Signage Console and reload your content.

Amazon Fire Stick and Fire TV

Connecting or Reconnecting to Wi-Fi

  1. From the Fire TV home screen, navigate left to the Settings menu (gear icon).

  2. Select Network.

  3. Select your Wi-Fi network (SSID) from the list.

  4. Enter your password and select Connect.

If You Changed Your Wi-Fi Password

  1. Go to SettingsNetwork.

  2. Highlight your current network and press the Menu button (three horizontal lines) on the remote.

  3. Select Forget Network.

  4. Select the network again, enter the new password, and connect.

Alternative: Quick Settings Shortcut

On newer Fire TV devices, hold the Home button for 2 seconds to open Quick Access, then select SettingsNetwork to reach Wi-Fi settings faster.

Google Chromecast (2024), Google TV Streamer, and Google TV Devices

The 2024 Chromecast with Google TV and the Google TV Streamer (4K, 2024) both run the Google TV interface. All Google TV devices use the same Network & Internet settings path.

Connecting or Reconnecting to Wi-Fi

  1. Press the Settings button on the Google TV remote (gear icon), or navigate to Settings from the home screen profile icon.

  2. Go to Network & internet.

  3. Select Wi-Fi.

  4. Select your Wi-Fi network (SSID) from the list.

  5. Enter your password and select Connect.

If You Changed Your Wi-Fi Password

  1. Go to SettingsNetwork & internetWi-Fi.

  2. Select the currently saved network.

  3. Choose Forget (or tap the gear icon next to the network name and select Forget Network).

  4. Select the network from the list again, enter the new password, and connect.

If the Device Won't Reconnect After a Factory Reset

Google TV devices may require you to sign in to your Google Account before you can connect to Wi-Fi during initial setup. Complete the setup flow normally — Wi-Fi is configured as part of the first-time setup process.

After Reconnecting — Verify Menuboard Manager Is Running

Once the display is back on Wi-Fi, confirm that Menuboard Manager is running and showing your content:

  1. Wait 60–90 seconds after reconnecting for the app to re-establish its connection to Menuboard Manager servers.

  2. If the app is still showing a "No Internet Connection" alert or is stuck on a previous screen, restart the device using its power button or power-cycle it by unplugging it for 15 seconds.

  3. After restarting, the app should reload automatically. If it does not, launch it manually.

  4. In the Units Manager, confirm the unit's status shows Online.

Troubleshooting

The network list is empty

  • Check that the router or access point is powered on and broadcasting.

  • Move the device closer to the router and scan again.

  • Toggle Wi-Fi off and back on to force a fresh scan.

Correct password isn't accepted

  • Confirm you're entering the password for the correct network — SSID names can look similar.

  • If the password was recently changed, forget the saved network first, then reconnect.

  • Passwords are case-sensitive. Confirm caps lock is not enabled on the on-screen keyboard.

Device connects to Wi-Fi but Menuboard Manager shows offline

  • The device may be on a guest network or a network that blocks outbound traffic. Use a dedicated network without a captive portal or session timeout.

  • Check that TCP port 443 (HTTPS) is not blocked by a firewall.

  • Confirm the device's date and time are correct — an incorrect system clock can break secure (TLS) connections. See Samsung — Configuring Time on TIZEN Displays if applicable.

Display keeps dropping Wi-Fi

  • Use a 2.4 GHz band for longer range, or 5 GHz for higher throughput if the router is nearby.

  • Assign a static IP address or a DHCP reservation in your router so the device always gets the same address.

  • Consider switching to wired Ethernet if the display supports it — a wired connection is always more reliable for digital signage.
